Equipment

Here is what we use to podcast the Teaching English in Japan Guide Podcast. This is what we have been using from Episode 002. We are still working on the sound settings, but we think that it’s a great setup for anyone that wants to podcast!!

July 9th, 2009 UPDATE:
Now that we have used it for several episodes we can now give it our official blessing!! It is the best investment we have made in regard to creating podcasts and other forms of New Media!! It’s a cinch to set up on our MacBook. Here is all you really need to do:

M-Audio Fast Track Pro 4×4 Mobile USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Preamps”"

Sony F-V220 Uni-Directional Vocal Microphone ”"

Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop”"

  • Plug in the unit via USB
  • Turn the unit on
  • Plug in the Mic or Mics
  • Open GarageBand and check the preferences to make sure the M Audio is being selected
  • Click on each of the voice tracks and make sure they are set to different mono tracks
  • Do test recordings messing with the volume and gains until it’s right for you
