Staying Warm in Japan With Kerosine

As we have mentioned many times in the podcast and in the book, Japan is a very cold country in the winter!! What makes it worse is that Japanese houses aren’t built with much insulation, if any at all!! So to keep warm in Japan there are several types of heaters you can use. You can use an electric ’space heater’, a sealed oil heater that is powered by electricity, your air conditioner, and our favorite THE KEROSINE HEATER. Today I snapped a quick picture of the kerosine containers at one of the schools I am an ALT at (this is Eric writing). One of the office staff was filling up the office heaters. Even though these heaters are smelly and filling them is a pain, the heat they generate is nice and HOT!  I will try to get some video footage once they light them up.
